The Cappella auditioned choirs are for youth who “love to sing!” The choirs rehearse after-school on a weekly basis from September through June. Rehearsals are geared towards preparing for three annual mainstage concerts (December, March & May) and the annual Fort Worden Children’s Choir Festival (Memorial Day Weekend). Additionally, all choirs perform at community and private events throughout the year. Singers enrolled in the auditioned choirs receive a comprehensive music education which includes music theory, ear training, music history, and vocal technique.Joining the auditioned choirs is a commitment which is shared by both singer and parent

Audition Details: No previous music experience is necessary to audition. Auditions are a time for you and the director to listen to your individual voice and decide on the best way to train your unique instrument. At your audition, you will be asked to sing simple vocal exercises, answer questions about music theory, and perform a simple folk song such as Happy Birthday or My Country Tis of Thee. Singers auditioning for tour choir will be asked to perform additional tasks such as singing scales with solfege (do, re, mi) and learning a new melody and then singing it without accompaniment. All auditioning singers are also welcome to perform a song of their choice (vocal or instrumental), although this is not required.
